Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser Review
Today, I will be reviewing an absolute classic when it comes to skincare: the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser!
As someone with dry, sometimes sensitive skin, finding a cleanser that doesn't leave my skin feeling stripped and dehydrated can be quite the challenge. Whilst looking online for a cleanser that was suitable for my skin type one name kept cropping up again and again: the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. Well, I'm not one to ignore good advice, not to mention it was fairly cheap so I decided to give it a go and buy myself a bottle.
Ingredients and claims:
The ingredient list itself is very minimal and stripped down, and the product does not promise much besides being non-irritating. I'm fine with that- in fact, I quite prefer for my cleansers to have as little as possible and just do its main job- to clean! Personally I don't see the point of having fancier ingredients and actives in a product that will only stay on my skin for a short amount of time, and would rather save that for my serums and toners.
Usage:
The appearance of the cleanser itself is milky and ever so slightly gel like. In fact from appearance alone it reminded me of all those fancy milk cleansers from certain overpriced brands that shall not be named- I'm sure ya'll know what I'm talking about anyways :x
Whilst you're cleansing and rubbing it in your face it doesn't really foam up- in fact, there's barely any foam at all. I quite like that, as foaming face washes often tend to be drying too. Instead this cleanser just glides smoothly over your skin. It rinses off quite easily as well, which is another bonus! I hate it when cleansers cling to your face and it takes several minutes of splashing your face with water to get it all off.
Just like it claims, it doesn't leave my skin dry and stripped at all- in fact, it leaves my skin softer and slightly moisturized after cleansing. It's gentle enough that I can use it twice a day, which for me was the biggest bonus. While I do try to keep my cleansing to once a day in the evening to prevent stripping my dry skin of much needed moisture, I live in a hot and humid country and sometimes I just need a quick wash to get rid of all the sweat in the morning. With this cleanser I can do that without worrying about over-drying my skin.
Final Verdict:
I absolutely love this cleanser- in fact, it's currently my daily cleanse that I use both in my morning and evening routines. And while I do love my fancy products with exotic ingredients and aesthetic packaging sometimes when it comes to cleansing simple is just what you need. I personally don't recommend this to someone with oily skin or someone who wears heavy makeup unless it's part of a double-cleanse, but for dry, sensitive skin types, this is a great daily product!
